(english below)

We are the parents of Maya who is one and half years and through the Foundation we are looking for help for her. Maya was born on 2nd January 2013. Due to her position during the birth she was born by caesarean section. That day was, for our family a beautiful and unique one. From that moment we could enjoy the parenthood. Unfortunately, after a few weeks we realized that Maya could not straighten the right arm.

We were seeking the help of many experts (including pediatrician, neonatologist, neurologist and physiotherapist) and we got to the orthopedist, who in addition to problems with the snap arm diagnosed problems with supination and pronation, in other words the movements of the wrist. Then we have also learned that the right arm can be shorter and weaker than the left. Despite the doctors giving a diagnosis, none of them could help our daughter. We were doing rehabilitation on Maya’s arm, during daily visits to the hospital, as well as at home. Each day the exercises cause Maya’s pain and a lot of tears shed. It is very difficult to explain to such a little girl, that all this is done for her own good. We have had to experience how hard it is to look at your child pain. At the beginning we cried with her, now we are trying to be stronger.

To complicate matters for the first year we could not do x-rays because we had to wait until all Maya’s bones are formed. X-rays showed that May has dysplasia ulna with dislocation of the radial head, bones of the right hand are poorly shaped and only surgery can give the efficiency of our daughter. Since Maya’s case is very rare, we did not find a doctor in Poland, who had experience with such a defect and could perform the operation.

After a long search we found Professor Jorg Bahmani from Aachen, which is a very good specialist who has operated on several similar cases, and is able to undertake the operation on Maya. Unfortunately, the operation must take place in Germany, and its cost is approximately six thousand Euros. Due to the fact that one of us must constantly look after Maya, only one of us is working. This result in the fact that we are not able to raise the amount required, and the time in this case is very important. At this time, Maya is one and half years old, the difference in the length of the arm is already visible. If we do not perform the surgery, the year-on-year difference will become greater, and our daughter will be a disabled.

Once my grandmother said, „good that the stars are so high, because you would catch them all for Maya”, I think there is a lot of truth in this, because every parent wants to give their child everything that he desires it, but most of all we would like to ensure Maya’s health and happiness. We firmly believe that with the help of the good people we can collect the amount. Every penny is given to Maya is a step to „ordinariness”.
